Hess Taiwan TEFL Certification Program

If you're not a teacher, don't panic: we can teach you how to teach. With over 26 years of developing curriculum, teaching classes and training teachers, we know a thing or two about how to teach English effectively, and we can train you in everything you need to know.

We have a set curriculum with a full range of support materials such as CDs, posters and visual aids. Our classes are clearly structured. This means you don't have to spend long hours compiling materials and writing your own lesson plans. In training, you will be equipped with simple yet effective teaching methods and systems that will allow you to use these materials well and enable your students to succeed.

Teachers are awarded a TEFL certificate at the end of their first year. This encompasses 120 hours of classroom instruction (Initial Training, Branch training, 1, 3, 6, and 9-month follow up training) and a minimum of 800 hours of practicum teaching. There is no charge to our teachers for our TEFL Certification Program and all our teachers, regardless of experience or educational background must complete our training program in Taiwan.

All successful applicants are required to take our (120 hour classroom instruction / minimum 800 hour practicum) TEFL Certification Program.

This intensive program is comprised of:

9 day intensive initial theory, methodology, cultural adaptation, and practicum prior to stepping into the classroom

• 1 month in-class paid practicum

• 1 day follow-up theory and methodology training at one month

• 1 day follow-up training at three months

• 1 day follow-up training at six months

• 1 day follow-up training at nine months

In the final month of a new teacher’s year contract, and upon successful completion of all components of the TEFL Certification Program, s/he is issued a TEFL Certificate.
